Biography

The Hon. William W. Haury, Jr. is a judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Broward County. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Charlie Crist in 2008, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Barry E. Goldstein.

During his judicial tenure, Haury has presided over the Felony Mental Health Court and the Drug Court and has held assignments in the Criminal, Foreclosure, and Civil Divisions.

He received a B.S. in business and marketing from Boston College in 1976. Haury then completed a J.D. at Pace University, Elisabeth Haub School of Law, in 1981.

After graduating from law school, he remained in New York. He began his legal career as an attorney in Manhattan, handling medical malpractice and products liability matters. Then, in 1983, he relocated to Florida, where he continued to work as an attorney in private practice. He eventually opened his own law firm in 1986.

His memberships have included the Broward County Bar Association, the Broward County Trial Lawyers Association, the North Broward Bar Association, the Florida Justice Association, and the American Bar Association.

Haury was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
