Judge William J. Giacomo - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. William J. Giacomo is a Justice of the Westchester County Supreme Court in the Ninth Judicial District of New York. He was originally elected to the Supreme Court bench in 2005 and was re-elected to the seat in 2019.

He is a registered Democrat.

Justice Giacomo received his B.S. from Boston College in 1972. He went on to earn his J.D. from Pace University School of Law in 1984.

Giacomo was the founding partner of Giacomo, Gallo, Feinstein, and Naishtut LLP law firm. While at the firm, he specialized in general litigation as well as negligence, criminal, commercial, corporate, and bankruptcy law.

Besides his private practice, Giacomo also served as an acting village justice for the Port Chester Village Court from 1997 to 2001 and was also an administrative hearing officer in Westchester County from 2001 to 2004.

He has taught Essential Skills Contracts in the Paralegal Certificate Program at Pace University.

Giacomo was the founder and chairman of the board of directors of The Sound Shore Community Fund from 1998 to 2004. He also served on the board of directors of the Port Chester/Rye Brook Chamber of Commerce, the Don Bosco Community Center, the Port Chester/Rye Brook Y.M.C.A., and the United Way for Port Chester/Rye Brook, of which he also served as past president.

Some of his other memberships have included the New York Magistrates Association and the 40/40 Club Village of Port Chester.

In 2019, Justice Giacomo received the Honorable Richard J. Daronco Distinguished Service Award from the Columbian Lawyers Association of Westchester County.
