Judge Julie R. Stevenson Solt - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Julie R. Stevenson Solt is the County Administrative Judge for the Frederick County Circuit Court in Maryland. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Parris Glendening on December 21, 1998.

Stevenson has held assignments as the Presiding Judge of the Frederick County Adult Drug Court Program as well as the designated judge for the Advanced Science and Technology Adjudication Resource Center Program.

Prior to her appointment, Solt was a deputy state’s attorney for the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office, a position to which she was named in 1992. Before that, she was the Chief Assistant State’s Attorney for the Frederick County Child Support & Juvenile Division (1990 to 1992).

Solt earned a bachelor’s degree from Mount Saint Mary College in 1980. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law in 1983.

After graduating from law school, Solt entered into private practice. She worked in that capacity until 1990, at which time she joined the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Her memberships have included the Frederick County Bar Association and the Maryland State’s Attorneys’ Association. She also sat on the Governor’s Heroin and Opioid Task Force, the Maryland Drug Treatment Court Commission, the Maryland State Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision, and the Public Defender Regional Advisory Board (No. 4).

Born in Bethesda, Maryland, Solt attended Damascus High School. She was an active volunteer with the Frederick County Therapeutic Riding Program.
