Judge Charles D. Wood - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Charles D. Wood is a Justice for the Westchester County Supreme Court in the Ninth Judicial District of New York. Wood began his judicial career as a judge for the Yonkers City Court in 2006. Four years later, he was elected to the Westchester County Supreme Court. While serving in this capacity, he was designated Supervising Judge for the Matrimonial Part.

Wood earned a B.A. from Vassar College in 1991. Then, in 1994, he completed a J.D. at New York Law School.

After graduating from law school, Wood entered into private practice as a sole practitioner in 1995. Two years later, he joined Banks, Curran, Keefe & Spolzino, where he worked as an associate until 1999.

At that time, Wood became counsel for Nicholas A. Spano, a Republican member of the New York State Senate from the 35th District. Four years before the end of his tenure there, he returned to private practice as a sole practitioner.

His professional memberships have included the New York State City Court Judges Association, the Yonkers Lawyers Association, the Westchester County Bar Association, the Westchester County Women's Bar Association, the Dutchess County Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.

He has also been a member of the American Association for the Improvement of Boxing, the Crestwood Historical Society, and the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association.

Wood is registered as a Republican.
