The Hon. Walter M. Caldwell, IV, is a judge for the 4th Judicial District Court of Louisiana. He was elected to the bench on November 3, 2020.
The 4th Judicial District encompasses Ouachita Parish and Morehouse Parish.
Caldwell earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1990. He then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in 1993. He is licensed to practice in Louisiana (1993), the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana (1993), and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana (1993).
After graduating from law school, Caldwell entered into private practice, handling general civil and criminal law matters in city, state, and federal courts. He supplemented his practice with service as a contract attorney for the 4th Judicial District Public Defender’s Office.
His memberships have included the Federal Public Defender’s Office Criminal Justice Act Panel. He has also been involved with the Ouachita Council of Governments and the Ouachita Business Alliance.
Raised in Ouachita Parish, Caldwell attended West Monroe High School.
