The Hon. W. Alan Becker (Ret.) served as a judge for the 31st Judicial District Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court of Virginia. Becker was elected to the bench by the Virginia General Assembly on July 1, 1987. He retired in 2014.
The 31st Judicial District encompasses Prince William County.
Prior to his appointment, Becker was an assistant county attorney with the Prince William County Attorney’s Office, a position to which he was named in 1985. In that capacity, he represented the Virginia Department of Social Services.
Becker earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Lawrence University in 1970. He then completed a J.D. at Washington University School of Law in 1973.
After graduating from law school, Becker joined the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Air Force at Bolling Air Force Base. During this time, he also clerked for a sole practitioner in Seven Corners. Then, in 1974, he was hired as an associate at Owens, Underwood & Beane, where he practiced for the next eleven years.
His memberships have included the Prince William County Bar Association.
Born and raised in Fairfax County, Virginia, Becker attended James Madison High School.
