The Hon. Todd G. Petit is a judge for the 19th Judicial District Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court of Virginia in Fairfax County. He joined the bench in 2016.
During his judicial tenure, Petit has served as chief judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court in Fairfax County.
Prior to joining the bench, he was chief public defender in the Office of the Public Defender for the City and County of Fairfax since 2005. Before that, Petit managed his own private practice, the Law Offices of Todd G. Petit (2001 to 2004), and acted as a Guardian ad Litem.
He received a B.A. from Northeastern University in 1994. Petit then completed a J.D. at the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, in 1997.
He received the Community Advocate Award from the Capital Area Immigration Rights Coalition in 2015.
Petit has served as a faculty member of the Virginia State Bar Harry L. Carrico Professional Course and has been a presenter for various CLE programs.
He is a married father of two children.
