The Hon. Thomas J. Love (Ret.) served as the District Administrative Judge for the Prince George’s County District Court in Maryland. Love was appointed to the bench by former Governor Parris Glendening on June 5, 1997. He retired on June 4, 2014.
Love held assignments on the Judicial Education Committee and the Administrative Judges Committee of the District Court of Maryland. He also served on the Civil Law & Procedure Committee of the Maryland Judicial Conference and the Court of Appeals Standing Committee on Rules of Practice & Procedure.
Prior to his appointment, Love served as the Mayor (1992 to 1997) and the Mayor Pro Tempore (1988 to 1992) of the Town of Berwyn Heights. Before that, he sat on the Town Council of Berwyn Heights (1982 to 1998).
Love earned a bachelor’s degree from Roanoke College in 1975. He then completed a J.D. at George Mason University School of Law in 1981.
His memberships have included the Maryland State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Prince George’s County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Maryland Association for Justice, the Maryland Mayors Association, and the Prince George’s County Municipal Association. He also sat on the Prince George’s County Parking Authority and the Prince George’s County Drug & Alcohol Council.
Love was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Parkdale High School in Riverdale, Maryland.
