The Hon. Steven Miller is a judge for the Louisiana 1st Circuit Court of Appeal. He was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Vanessa Guidry-Whipple.
Prior to his election, Miller was a judge for the 17th Judicial District Court, a position to which he was named in 2014. Before that, he spent time as an assistant district attorney with the Lafourche Parish District Attorney's Office (2003 to 2014).
Miller earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1989. He later completed a J.D. at Tulane Law School in 1994.
After graduating from law school, Miller began his legal career as an attorney in private practice. He worked in that capacity for the next twenty years, representing individuals, families, and small businesses in general legal matters.
Miller was born and raised in Lockport, Louisiana.
He is registered as a Republican.
