The Hon. Ray W. Dezern (Ret.) served as a judge for the 4th Judicial District Court of Virginia. Dezern was elected to the bench by the Virginia General Assembly in 1995. He retired on December 27, 2013.
The 4th Judicial District encompasses the City of Norfolk.
Prior to his election, Dezern was a partner at Knight, Dudley, Dezern & Clarke, a law firm based in Norfolk.
Dezern earned a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University in 1967. He then completed a J.D. at Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1970.
He has served as president of the Virginia Symphony.
