The Hon. Paulette R. Irons is a judge for the Orleans Parish Civil District Court of Louisiana. She was elected to the bench in 2004.
Irons received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola University. She then completed a J.D. at Tulane Law School.
In 1992, Irons established her own private practice and became a representative in the Louisiana House of Representatives, holding office until 1994. At that time, she was elected a senator in the Louisiana State Senate, representing District 4 in New Orleans. Irons continued to serve in the state legislature while working part-time in private practice. She managed both positions until her election to the bench.
Irons was also a mayoral candidate for New Orleans in 2002, finishing the race in third place.
A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, she attended Booker T. Washington Senior High School. Irons and her husband, Alvin, have two children and several grandchildren.
She is registered as a Democrat.
