The Hon. Leo Boothe (Ret.) is a former judge for the 7th Judicial District Court of Louisiana. Boothe was elected to the bench in 1991.
The 7th Judicial District includes the Catahoula and Concordia Parishes. During his judicial tenure, Boothe received a yearlong suspension, handed down by the Louisiana Supreme Court in 2013, for violating judicial ethics by allegedly having improper communications with a known drug dealer whom he later gave a reduced sentence. Boothe disputed the allegations.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. Boothe then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center. Boothe was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 1970.
