The Hon. Jonathan P. Brody is a judge for the 5th Judicial District Court of Idaho. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Butch Otter on December 9, 2009, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. John Melanson to the Idaho Court of Appeals.
The 5th Judicial District encompasses Blaine, Camas, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka, and Twin Falls Counties. Brody has held assignments in Minidoka County.
Prior to his appointment, Brody was the chief deputy prosecuting attorney for the Minidoka County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, a position to which he was named in 2008.
Brody earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Colorado Law School.
After graduating from law school, Brody entered into private practice. He supplemented his practice with service as a deputy public defender with the Twin Falls County Public Defender’s Office as well as a deputy prosecuting attorney with the Twin Falls County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He and his wife, Robyn, have two children.
