The Hon. John A. Keller is a judge for the 22nd Judicial District Court of Louisiana. He was elected to the bench on November 3, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. Peter Garcia.
The 22nd Judicial District encompasses Washington Parish and St. Tammany Parish.
Prior to his election, Keller operated his own private practice as a sole practitioner in Covington.
Keller earned a bachelor’s degree from Northeast Louisiana University in 1984. He then completed a J.D. at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1987.
After graduating from law school, Keller entered into private practice, working as an associate at Onebane, Bernard, Torian, Diaz, McNamara & Abell. He remained with the firm for several years, eventually becoming a partner and shareholder with the Onebane Law Firm in 1992.
His memberships have included the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has also been involved with the Our Lady of the Lake Men’s Club, and he has served on the Mandeville City Council.
Born in Germany, Keller was raised in Mandeville, Louisiana, where he graduated from St. Paul School in Covington. He and his wife, Midge, have five children. The family attends Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. When not presiding over legal proceedings, he enjoys tennis, basketball, and coaching youth baseball, basketball, and soccer teams.
Keller is registered as a Republican.
