The Hon. Ed Broussard (Ret.) is a former judge for the 15th Judicial District Court of Louisiana. He was elected to the bench in 2008. Broussard retired in 2020.
The 15th Judicial District includes Acadia Parish, Lafayette Parish, and Vermilion Parish.
He received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Southwest Louisiana. Broussard then completed a J.D. at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1981.
He began a clerkship with the Hon. Richard J. Putnam at the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana in 1983. The following year, Broussard entered private practice alongside his father and grandfather at their family law firm. In addition to his practice there, he worked as an assistant district attorney until his call to the local city court bench in 2001.
At that time, Broussard joined the Abbeville City Court. During his tenure, he was credited with developing the Abbeville City Court Mentoring Program, which became the first juvenile program established in Vermilion Parish. He remained on its bench until his election to the District Court in 2008.
