The Hon. David J. Partsch is a judge for the 2nd Judicial District County Court of Nebraska. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Pete Ricketts in 2019, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John F. Steinheider.
Partsch presides over the Otoe and Cass County Courts.
Prior to his appointment, he was the County Attorney for Otoe County since 2007, where he was tasked with prosecuting felony criminal matters. Partsch joined the office as a deputy county attorney in 2005. In addition to his work there, he also served as the City Attorney for Nebraska City (2013 to 2019) and as the presiding commissioner on the Nebraska Commission of Industrial Relations (2014 to 2019).
Before his time as a prosecutor, he was a partner at Hoch & Partsch in Nebraska City (2005 to 2008); a sole practitioner at his own law firm (2003 to 2005); an attorney at Jewell, Collins Delay & Gray (2001 to 2003); and legal counsel for the Nebraska Commission of Industrial Relations (1999 to 2001).
Partsch earned a B.S. in business administration from Creighton University in 1997. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1999.
His memberships include the Nebraska State Bar Association, the Nebraska County Attorneys Association, the Second Judicial District Bar Association, the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, the National District Attorneys Association, and the Nebraska County Judges Association.
An active member of his community, his involvement includes Invest in Kids, the Grether Moot Court Competition, Partners for Otoe County, the CHI St. Mary’s Health Community Board of Directors, and the Rotary Club of Nebraska.
Partsch was named a National Top 10 Animal Defender by the Animal Legal Defense Fund in 2019.
