The Hon. D. Carson Marcantel is a judge for the City Court of Baton Rouge in Louisiana. He was elected to the bench in 2021.
Marcantel received a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Arkansas in 1984. He then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in 1990. Marcantel was admitted to practice in Louisiana (1990) and Arkansas (1991).
Early in his legal career, he worked as an assistant district attorney with the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s Office in the 19th Judicial District, beginning in 1992. Then, in 1996, Marcantel opened his own private practice, where he remained until his election to the local bench. In addition to his practice, he also served as a member of the East Baton Rouge Public Defender’s Office (2018 to 2021).
He and his wife, Carol, have two daughters, both of whom are also attorneys.
Marcantel is registered as a Republican.
