The Hon. Craig O. Marcotte is a judge for the 1st Judicial District Court of Louisiana. He was elected to the bench on March 26, 2022.
The 1st Judicial District encompasses Caddo Parish.
Prior to his election, Marcotte was a judge for the 1st Judicial District Court, a position to which he was named in 2009.
Marcotte earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Louisiana Tech University in 1984. He then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in 1988. He is licensed to practice in Louisiana (1988) and the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana (1988).
After graduating from law school, Marcotte began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. James E. Bolin and the Hon. Charles R. Scott of the 26th Judicial District Court. He served in that capacity until 1989, at which time he entered into private practice at Hicks, Hubley & Marcotte.
His memberships have included the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Shreveport Bar Association, the Harry V. Booth-Henry A. Politz American Inn of Court, and the North Shreveport Business Association. He has also been involved with the Shreveport Red Mass Society and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, Marcotte attended Jesuit High School.
He is registered as a Republican.
