The Hon. Ashley K. Tunner is a judge for the 13th Judicial District Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court of Virginia. She was elected to the bench by the Virginia General Assembly in 2006.
The 13th Judicial District encompasses the City of Richmond.
Tunner earned a bachelor’s degree from Hollins University. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Richmond School of Law in 1995. As a law student, she worked at its Youth Advocacy Clinic.
After graduating from law school, Tunner began her legal career as a public defender for the Portsmouth Public Defender’s Office. She served in that capacity for three years, eventually transferring to the Richmond Public Defender’s Office. While in Richmond, she sat as the deputy public defender in charge of the juvenile cases.
Born and raised in Tifton, Georgia, Tunner and her husband, William Tunner, have two children.
